Hodges Custom Designs - designs and manufacturers custom cabinetry, furniture, RichliteŽ
Countertops and solid wood countertops.
Hodges Custom Designs is located at 325 South Westwood, Suite 7, Mesa AZ 85210. We occupy
approximately 2500 square feet shop space. We have a well equipped shop and are continuously
working to improve our tools and skills.
We are a family owned and operated business. We opened our doors in January 1994 as Hodges
Wood Shop. Early this year we moved to our new location, here at 325 South Westwood Suite
7, and changed our name to Hodges Custom Designs. Hodges Custom Designs is a more
descriptive name for our business and after 11 years we thought it was time for the change.
We have family stories that trace our family woodworking experience back to 1894 in Hodges Gap,
North Carolina. At age 6, Great Grandfather Jim, attempted to modify a stump with a dull ax.
The bees that lived in the stump were not pleased. We have declared that the Hodges family was
in the woodworking business at that time. In later years Great Grandfather Jim's hobby was
repairing old clocks and building wood cases for them. He made the face, inlayed the numbers,
minute marks, etc. A few of these clocks are family heirlooms.
Jim (father) started driving 10-penny nails in any piece of wood he could find at age 3.
He took shop in high school, making bowls, lamps and numerous projects. He also built some
furniture and projects around the house before getting involved with Hodges Custom Designs.
Stacy (son) took shop in middle school and high school. He made cedar chests for his sister
and Mother, he also made several other projects. Stacy started woodworking as a hobby in a
150 square foot shop in 1992.
Jim joined the business in 1993 when he could not find quality workmanship for a home
re-modeling project. By 1994 the business had grown to something more than a hobby and Hodges
Wood Shop was established in January 1994.
Today Stacy and Jim work full time in the shop. Mary (mother and wife) does the office work.
We also have a friend that gives us a hand when we need the extra help.
In addition to our Cabinet Vision Solid we are developing pricing tools software. We will be
able to give you a price very quickly for RichliteŽ countertops, solid wood counter tops,
custom cabinetry and custom furniture. We enjoy working with our hands and find it very
rewarding to watch your ideas develop on paper and see them come to life in your project.
